"Vintage" Warhol

I was looking for a wine-related painting to donate for the gift basket drawing at the upcoming Museum event, when I came across this small watercolor pencil drawing of a basket of green apples and a glass of wine. I took a photo of it, and played around with the colors and Voila...Warhol!

What's in Minneapolis?

That's the question I was asked when I mentioned I was going on a trip to Minneapolis/St. Paul. The answer is...too much to see and do in just a few days. There is Art, Architecture, Theater, Music, parks, lakes, good food from pub to posh, and nice people! These are just a few of my favorite things...I guess you can tell I'm a fan of Frank Gehry's architecture. This is just the "tip of the iceberg" (well, that's appropriate for Minnesota winters). Sometimes we only had 30 minutes to walk around a site, some museums didn't allow photos, and often I was too busy looking, listening, and eating to take photos.

Since we were in Minneapolis, how could we not go to the Mall of America, the largest in the US. Again, this was a 30-minute stop, so I spent it taking photos in the Amusement Park, the only really unique feature of the mall. It struck me as a Supersize Livingston Mall...NJ folks will know what I'm talking about.

I'm so proud of myself..."embedding" a slide show is something new I tried, and it worked. What's next? Music? Movies? Who knows! If you are interested in seeing the photos full size, you can click on the photos, which will take you to the Album; then click "slidehow" on the right and you will see a full screen slideshow. I may even get around to putting in some captions.

Petition Against Gasoline Price Gouging!

As of yesterday, gas prices are the highest in U.S. history—we just passed the 1981 record, even adjusted for inflation. Prices could reach $4.00 per gallon in parts of the country, just in time to crimp summer vacation plans. As consumers suffer, the oil industry continues to reap the windfall—breaking profit records on an almost quarterly basis. It's outrageous!
Enough is enough. Hearings start today on H.R. 1252, a House bill that would make gas price gouging a federal crime, punishable by 10 years in prison. Speaker Pelosi has said she'll move the bill to a vote this week—if there's the two-thirds majority required to fast track the bill through the process.
Oil company lobbyists are frantically trying to stop the bill. Your representative needs to hear from you today. Will you sign our petition asking Congress to pass the price-gouging bill—and then send it to your friends?
"Gasoline price gouging should be made a federal crime before the summer price increases hurt more American families."

250 Years Old & Still Counting!

For no particular reason, I checked my profile today, and learned that I was 250 years old, and born in the Year of the Rat! I realized that since I didn't put my age in the my original profile, when Blogger was upgraded someone looked at my photo and decided 250 was right! Was that because the Taj Mahal was in the background?

The age is a little off, and I was born in the Year of the Dog, which is quite appropriate for a devout dog lover.

Last chance to look at what a 250 year old blogger looks like, because I intend to make some changes to my profile.

Where Have I Been?

I can't believe how long it's been since I've posted to my blogs! I wish I could say it's because I've been on some exotic trips (does Philadelphia count?). From these photos you might guess I've spent time in the Far East...but the last photo is a dead giveaway. This was the Asian Festival at the Newark Museum last Sunday.
